Partners, Supporters and Sponsors
If you look at the London 2012 website, there seems to be a strict 'pecking order' to the various levels of association that a company can have with the Olympics.
- Worldwide Partners, for example Coca-Cola, Visa
- Official Partners [Tier 1], for example Lloyds TSB, BT
- Official Supporters [Tier2]
- Official Suppliers/Official Providers [Tier 3]
It appears that the worldwide sponsors have their licencing agreement with the IOC whereas the Tier 1,2 and 3 partners have their agreements with LOCOG. Because of this, the worldwide partners may have their pins produced by manufacturers other than Honav. The Tier 1,2 and 3 partners appear to be having all their pins manufactured by Honav under licence from LOCOG.
Partners and supporters must follow strict rules as to how, when and if they can use the offical words, logo and mascot of the host city or the Olympics rings on their pins.
